Bird House Swap A Block
BirdHouse quilt ---I taught this quilt class as a "Swap-A-Block" in a local quilt shop. It was lots of fun. Nine people participated, we each made 9 blocks. Our nine blocks were all the same. We met for a full day class and exchanged blocks. Lunch was included with the class. Many of my quilts I have re-designed to make large enough to fit a king size bed. That was the case with this one as well. I added the birdhouses around the edge, along with the piano key border and plain outside border to increase the size. This class was so well received that I taught it more than one time. A word of caution though, after a bad experience I had taking a similiar class elsewhere, the students for these quilts were hand picked. Not everyone makes square blocks using good grade fabrics!! I use my "bad exerience" blocks as show and tell as what "not to do" when I teach a class like this one.

This is a small baby quilt quilted as one of my first items on the new Nolting 18" Quilting Machine. I quilted butterflies in all of the corner blocks. This would have been completed in 2006.

Cabin By The Lake Quilt
Cabin By The Lake. This was a Marti Michell pattern, which I have altered to make larger. This quilt was made of flannel. It is the only flannel quilt that I have made. I love piecing, so this was a really fun project for me. This project was completed in 2005 and is 98" long and 104" wide.

Carolyn's Gift Xmas 2008
This is a quilt that I made for a really good friend (Carolyn) for Christmas 2008. Carolyn is not a quilter, but has to listen to me jabber about quilting all of the time. I thought I should surprise her with one of my creations!! This project was completed in 2008 and is 65" square.

Green Scrappy Quilt
Green (Yellow Brick Road) This is a scrapy quilt made from the pattern "Yellow Brick Road". I taught applique classes for years and have LOTS of fabrics left over from doing so. I decided that I should use some of the greens. I made the quilt, but I didn't even dent the boxes of green fabrics. This one I quilted on my Nolting 24" Pro that is now computerized. It has a cute pantograph pattern with cabins, bears and trees throughout the center. The pantograph is by Dave Hudson. There is a nice leafy design around the outside border. This projecrt was completed in Dec 2008 and is 99" Square.

Family Memory Quilt
This quilt has my mother-in-law and father-in-law in the center picture when they got married. Surrounding them are their 8 children (my husband being the oldest of the kids). There is lots of lace and charms to embellish it. I made this quilt for my MIL for Mother's Day. It has to be the nicest gift I ever gave her. She has passed away now, but I think it was one of her most prized possessions. After I had given it to her, I borrowed it back to enter in the fair. I'm not sure if it was my MIL or FIL that was most possessive of it. I did get a blue ribbon which I pinned on it, and left it until they had both passed away. The colors had faded. I had made this and also taught it as a class when photos on fabrics was a really new thing. I'm sure with the products that are available in today's market, it would look a lot better after hanging for a few years.

The Many Moods of Mrs Claus
The Many Moods of Mrs. Claus was a class that I taught as a block of the month in a local quilt store. There were over 500 applique pieces in this quilt. Once again, I have made it larger by adding borders (particularly the ribbon border) to make it fit a king size bed.

Erin & Casey Wedding Quilt
My oldest Granddaughter married her sweetheart, Casey on May 23, 2008. I made this quilt for their wedding. Erin had told me Casey liked stars and blues, so here it is!! Part of the quilting on this was done on my 18" Nolting, and I finished it up (decided it needed more quilting) after I got my 24" Nolting Pro. This project is 88" x 92".

Arlette's Birthday Quilt
This was a quilt I completed from sampler blocks in a block of the month class that I attended. This was finished up for a friend for her 40th birthday. She is the age of my own daughters and refers to me as "TOM" (The Other Mom). I have known her and her family since she was in about the 3rd grade. Even through we don't even live in the same state, and haven't for LOTS of years, we are still great friends and are just as we would be if we were still neighbors. You don't have many friends like that in a lifetime!!

Sampler for Jean
Twelve of the blocks in this quilt were a block of the month at a local quilt store. I have made additional blocks and turned it into a regular size quilt for a very dear friend. This is someone that I lived next door to about 35 years ago!! Even though we have lived in different states for most of the years since, we have stayed in contact and it still feels like she could come through the door at any time. I would love for her to do that!! You don't have many friends that are that close in a lifetime!! I sent this quilt to her "out of the blue", just because we are great friends1! Also in this album you will find "Arlette's Quilt". Arlette is this lady's daughter. We have obviously been great friends for a very long time.

Log Cabin Christmas
I started this project MANY years ago. All of the applique was complete, leaving only the borders and quilting to do. I had never felt qualified to quilt it, so it kept on WAITING. Finally, 2009, this quilt is hanging on my wall. The quilting doesn't show up very well in the photo, but in all of the white areas there is 1/2" crosshatching. It really shows off the applique well. YEAH, a completed project!! It was quilted on my Nolting 24" which my hubby computerized for me. All of the crosshatching, however, was done with rulers. The quilt is about 64" square.
